Earlier today I was talking to a friend and she mentioned that her husband had taken their child to the You Yangs for a walk. We observed that in our respective young families that dad is more responsible for games, activities and excursions whilst mum is more aware of sleep and food routines. Possibly this is why dads receive compliments when getting coffee with their child which can really only happen if the child is happy and healthy thanks to sleep and food.
I thought I would compile a list of activities like swimming, bike riding, museum, etc. that I have done but really it is pretty dull compared to these dads…
Josh Fletcher has a really unique take on it all at bowhunting and is opening my eyes to the benefits of Investing in Our Future by taking your kids hunting.
I have taken my kids to the zoo a few times and have never considered this as a way to get them even closer to the animals.
And finally who could forget:

Excellent observation about the typical Dad/Mom split. I’d say that in family, Dad is the one who’s more likely to find ways to incorporate the kids into whatever he needs to do — gardening, chopping wood, helping bale hay, etc. I do lots of stuff with the kids, but I have a much harder time finding ways to do my stuff with them around than he does.
